Research topic description
To achieve effective business development and a smooth transition to a circular economy, digitization and sustainability become vital aspects, which means that there is a need to look for new management methods, models and structures, and optimization methods that could transform business processes as “easily” as possible and with as little loss as possible in all senses.
The object of research is the optimization of business processes.
The work aims to assess organizations’ business processes in the context of double transformation.
Taking into global account trends such as sustainability, digitization, robotization, environmental friendliness, resource-saving, waste recycling and utilization (circular economic phenomenon), the industry is facing ever more significant challenges, so the rapidly spreading and widespread phenomenon of the Twin Transition can be the key to the successful transformation of industrial value chains aimed at reducing waste and pollution.
The selected candidate will work on the PhD thesis under the supervision of Prof. dr. Ieva Meidutė-Kavaliauskienė. The successful applicant will have to attend scientific conferences, meetings and internships at other universities. s.

• Required background: Master’s degree in the Management field
• Expected skills and knowledge: preferably research skills in the Management field

Programme structure
The PhD programme consists of:
· Independent research under supervision;
· Courses for PhD students (approximately 30 ECTS credits);
· Participation in research networks, including placements at other, primarily foreign, research institutions;
· Teaching or another form of knowledge dissemination, which is related to the PhD topic when possible;
· The completion of a PhD thesis.
