Overview
PhD candidate position in Responsible Consumption and Production in the Context of the Development of a Circular Economy
Open application for a doctoral candidate in Economics
The doctoral candidate position is available in the faculty of Business Management, Department of Economics Engineering. Applicants interested in other research topics related to sustainability, promotion of alternative energy or sustainable customer behaviour are also welcome to apply.
Research topic description
In line with changes in societal values, governments are increasingly questioning the suitability of production throughput (measured as GDP or other national accounting measures) as the paramount measure of societal progress and are moving towards a battery of indicators, including sustainability measures. This trend to change priorities has been accompanied by the increasing adoption of policies oriented towards promoting sustainable development. Responsible consumption and production are one of the interlinked global goals in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the background for the circular economy. The topic is important for future perspectives in economics and changing business models that encourage the growth of the circular economy.
The selected candidate will work on the PhD thesis under the supervision of Assoc Prof dr Agnė Šimelytė. The successful applicant will have to attend scientific conferences, meetings and internships at other universities.
