Overview
BIM stands for Building Information Modelling and is a leading player in the construction industry. Modern design, construction, production, and operating and maintenance technologies are based on BIM concepts. In essence, it means that the entire construction project and its separate components develop in the context of a spatial information model of a single or associated building.
BIM contexts include all components of projects (e.g. building, structural, engineering, technology, and estimated project value) and the phases of life cycle (conceptual, technical, construction, operation, maintenance, reconstruction), which are existing from the initial stage of design to demolition.
The increasing use of BIM technology not only in building design, production, construction, and facility (asset) management, but also in the application of advanced theoretical knowledge and specific practical skills demonstrated by professionals involved in these processes, but also in the need to increase the broader perspective of information coordination between the projects of each project discipline and the projects of development stages, and to digitally integrate static nature in the phases of the lifecycle.
The goal of the Master’s degree programme in Building Information Modelling is to provide professional engineering knowledge, develop professional engineering skills to perform BIM managers’ functions, design and implement construction projects, and manage already built assets, and improve the latest advances in engineering information modelling technology and management.
Programme structure
Whole programme consists of 4 semesters (2 years). Three semesters of studies and one last semester of only writing final thesis. Students can participate in the exchange programmes and spend a semester abroad in a partner institution.
Career opportunities
Working as a BIM manager of building and infrastructure information modelling, BIM project coordinator, BIM expert, BIM consultant in builders ‘and developers’ organisations, property management companies, design, contracting, and manufacturing companies of various profiles, both in the private and public sector; Pursuing doctoral studies.
